Oxcarts are the vehicles that brought economic wealth and original art to Costa Rica. They represent the simplicity and aspirations of rural Costa Rican people who in turn have become artisans willing to fulfill their destiny.

COSTA RICA

This is an image from a Costa Rican rainforest. I love the colors and think that a nature inspired color scheme would complement our Costa Rican influenced restaurant. This is also more original than your typical beach scene of blue ocean and orange sunset. A tropical rainforest, I think is the way to go. Hope you all agree. In additon, the fruit incorporated on the tacos would enhance these tones beautifully.

A lot of changes were made. I ended up re doing them all because the first illustrations looked unfinished or messy. So to solve the problem I cut the homeless person out and seperated them from the background layer. To add emphasis on the homeless people they were left in color. Then I re-pasted the original photo behind the homeless people and made that layer black and white. After the the illustrations were of the background were place and blended together in photoshop. After all that a final lighting touch was added. Hope you like them.

Hello Class,

Thanks to all who have continued to keep the project moving forward, I can see a lot of good progress overall. However, to those of you that are behind, please remember that you have only a short time to complete the work so try to apply as much out-of-class time as possible for a fantastic final result.

As luck would have it, when I returned from my trip, I discovered that a close family member has passed so I am off to NY but will be back for class on week 10. In class we will look at presentation examples for the final presentation. In addition you will have time to complete the invoice in class. Please have all billable expense receipts and time sheets available and refer to the forms I posted under “Handouts” on the main site for an example. The other main task of week 10 is to proof-read the final prints or debug the uploaded site.

I wish you all the best in your efforts and will see you in class next week (week 10).

Alright the posts below this are ideas/sketches for our mastehead (title) for the book. This is just my opinion, I feel we should have a custom typeface for the mastehead because stock fonts cannot justify what we're trying to do. Please give feedback.

Oh yeah I forgot to explain. So the shaded box would represent the full bleed photo of our subject, then there would be a pull out quote and then some columns of body copy, I figure keep the body copy to 3 columns max, that way the full bleed photos give this gallery type feel where there's lots of negative space for audience's viewing. Na mean?

Here's what I have so far, im still working on other illustrations for Obama and triyng to figure out a better way to keep the book uniform, we need to see each others spread to see the layout, to prevent it from looking all uncoordinated.
